bless up from your feet to your head top,
I have wanted to talk about Kerby for a while now and I say there’s no time like the present. I’ve known about Kerby since the Forbes 30 under 30 (little did I know that was when he started the company) it made me see and be able to tell myself yes I as a black man can be on this list.
That is not the reason I revere him not to do with his accolades but his personality and mellow attitude while being unapologetically himself, which happens to be some degree of thorough black man who did not want to sell out.
As he talks about his sneaker deal he talks about making a deal with the devil treating people terrible halfway across the world. We all know the business but to just understand his reason for picking reebok made me appreciate and want to buy into him a bit more.
Hearing him walking away from the table while a company wanted to profit from blackness is the type of character I see prevailing in the black renaissance as well as him being the first designer to talk about blackness in the best way he keeps that integrity with his money as well. The same energy is kept and he prevails through it all.
Although he has had terrible business acumen with his past business partners listening to him details that gave me insight to really how he’s giving it up and is ready to teach these young designers how to look at their contracts.
Stay composed and keep your neck up
