Adidas Technology – An intro into footwear innovation and key to superiority

We go again

I think so much about what materials are being used when creating anything. From when I’m consulting on architecture projects to fashion, mobile tech is a given but that’s a 2022 conversation.

Adidas is winning in technology

  • barefoot,(Frampton)
  • boost, bounce, cloudfoam
  • speed mesh
  • Firm ground (Johnston)
  • Future craft 4D
  • Biosteel Fibre
  • Adiprene

Barefoot tech

Midsole Tech

Cleats

Fibres & Uppers

I take heed of this as a designer. Because making is more than bringing a drawing to life its thinking about the future and curating a type of environment that breeds innovation. Showing people there’s always room for growth, behind Adidas Group is a team of engineers.

You see Nike team up with so many material groups face value, but as far as I can tell Adidas has an Apple aesthetic where it’s just their name on the shoe.

It was the biggest news in ’96 with Adidas ‘Feet you wear’ campaign vs Nike Air & more Air, the company out competed in tech every time with help from Frampton Ellis. These are the things I take note of when I work with the engineering side of material technology and manipulation. Not just a good looking sneaker an ergonomic sneaker with function form and aesthetics

Editors Note

Adidas found their in to the sportswear market with this and climacool. From the predator to the Y-3 Runner 4D there’s not many challengers that are shaping innovation the way Adidas is.

This is a philosophy I take with me on my journey, it’s not just about understanding your competition it’s about adding to yourself in a creative way. Not stealing diseases but adding to your ethos to make you a better company. The Sam Walton (of WalMart) way

OYOS: Talent, Execution, Elite Mentality and Performance – all parts of the equation

We go again

Live update. I’m doing stuff that I have never done and it’s stressing me out.

I think this is the real testament to my elite personality/mentality comes in play, I won’t lie I’ve relied most my life on pure talent and excellence of understand my craft.

This, what I have been doing for years does not work here. I have to push, I have to press towards, I have to craft new ways and study things I’ve never studied before to overcome these hurdles.

When they said talent wasn’t everything they were actually right, I had no clue. I’ve never needed more than talent to create quality work or come up with quality ideas.

You see execution is a skill, people will tell you it’s hard work I don’t see hard work as much of a function. There are people with elite mentalities that start out purely with execution and then get the great ideas, I’m obviously on the other end of the spectrum but I’m coming u on a force I have never faced before. The need to execute beyond my station the need to execute and create quality work.

I know it sounds daft but I have only needed one or the other. But both? You’re telling me I have to execute and make it a high level? Okay now we’re stepping on uncharted territory.

See some people will think I’m mad for thinking this but I’m making this post just for those that know what I’m talking about and to myself for remembering the emotions in the moment for future purposes and to channel that & to release it so I can just get on with what I need to get on with Cos I sure am going to do it it’s just now I’ve caught on. If it helped you reading, great. We’re on this journey together.

2 Design Trends that you need to understand in 2019 that will sweep the Highstreet

We Go again,

Truly, as soon as I saw these trends I knew I had to explain them and it felt like a chore but what’s more of a chore is people talking about garments they don’t understand.

So for me to have the peace of mind that I can point to a blog and keep people informed. That’s what my first blog was about and my second blog was about trends so I’m basically reinforcing the values from which I started.

You have probably seen “cultural fusion” people using patterns and prints and sigils to enhance or moreover give the European cuts a different flavour, adding salt to the stew, what we’re seeing now is further inclinations of that. More people trying to push the boundaries of what we’re doing with menswear, I want to thank California Ian Connor and Adamaneven for how they inspire the game and where menswear is going.

Chimera Garments – Texture alchemy

This is my favourite trend this season it’s barrages the senses encourages a sense of touch and a good eye, fleece, Borg jersey velvet and leather. Creating touch worthy garments and ful Full body clothing, making one want to hold the garments and catches the eye of the onlooker using colours textures and patterns to heighten the already Highly skilled artist to make a full-body clothing items.

I’ve spoke About menswear being functional this is a push away from this and adds to the level of creativity that menswear can hold the codes that were so consciously followed long ago are now being broken in the right way. Men wear what they want if the fit looks fire.

I love that we are moving away from this men’s woman’s fusion that was happening a couple of years ago and the honest craft and function of menswear is growing in its own way. There was a time where men had blocks it could barely fit in, people thought adding womenswear cuts was the answer.

Now designers are becoming more articulate with garment creation, I don’t know if people are fully understanding the industrial design codes that menswear is taking on but it where it’s heading new fabrication and polymers being created adding more artistry to the function of clothes making menswear desirable in its own way.

Industrial Tech manufacturing

the sweeping sentiment in menswear is, where is it going? What do we call it? How is this comfortable, cozy, lax, “streetwear” controlling the narrative of menswear. Well I have it on good authority it’s only the beginning. The direction taken is assured that menswear will continue to evolve and hoodies are more than just jersey anoraks.

The remarkable leaps that menswear is taking will for sure be seen in hindsight, the methods used to make new garments and enhance texture and fulfil desirability to men.

The industrial design in sneaker creating is moving to clothes and sneakers are looking more industrial, the sneakers are no longer just a nod to the past or purposely ugly as some may think they hold design consideration from artist who done things outside of garment manipulation.

The textures the stacking and the layering of the texture the layout of the forms are making sneakers sculptures on feet they really feel like they were made for something, the sneakers made now are rugged and built up off a consideration to sneaker aficionados when you look at it even if the story isn’t told truly in the advert or in the rollout they will be told on feet.

Your story will be made to stand out and it’s the complicit understanding of the wearer everyone else will understand too. That leap of faith the people who buy in are taking now because most high-fashion sneakers are very well different than the others the wearer is drawn to how they are made and they don’t know how to articulate why. That’s the level of artistry involved in what is happening, the technical understand of the designers and the idealism used to create trainers that look the way they do want to push more than texture but the thought of what a sneaker actually is the amount of detailing and manufacturing that goes into one pair to fulfil the story of the creator is really quite stunning.

I understand all of these because I am all of these I am these designers that want to bring architecture and structure into menswear what is the foundation, what is the material what type of materials on the insole can we use to make it ergonomically friendly how are we taking our understand of the textures and materials used in an environment to explain and explore the type of person I am associating this thing with in my thesis

Those design considerations push menswear forward,

‪A Dialogue on: Finding Your Style – the man makes the clothes not the other way around‬

Finding Your Style

The man makes the clothes not the other way around

We go again,

I have committed to the honour of someone who cares about style. It’s really been a part of me for as long as I’ve known. There are Two things I will always Remember;

1) You look the part you act the part

2) The man makes the clothes

These two comments have reigned true for my entire understanding of clothes, perception, style, confidence, fashion, luxury & attitude. Depending on what I wear I get treated a certain type of way, respect and esteem is earned depending on amount of thought is put into an outfit and amount of style one exudes while wearing it. That’s said for a person who knows what he’s doing when he’s building a catalog and developing a wardrobe fit for his style.

Dress like a man act like a man

This and many other variations of the phrase were told to me as a young man starting secondary school, in a Church of England you rise when a senior staff member comes in the room; have your tie straight; your blazer clean; and sit when told. This way of learning respect for elders was instilled in me with a passion, when you tie it in to everything else you learn about being a man it’s uncompromising and unwavering. Simply made sense, so who was I to question? Great question, the answer is – Not Your Typical, that’s who I am.

When I realised this was a big deal was when I would wear an Anorak with a big scarf and my hood on in a cold autumns day on the way to gymnastics and the difference in the way I was treated in my suit and in my anorak. Noticing the attire makes the perception and the attitude amplifies it. One of the only ways to not get treated like a criminal now and in the earlier days was dress as formal as possible for a man in a suit is not suspect of crimes. This is when I learned clothes have meaning, you dress a certain way it says something about you. (This incident was one that happened pre the luxury hoodie)

Looks stylish, he is stylish

‘A man of composure and confidence is a man that knows who he is and where he’s heading’

When you’re somewhat stylish people smell that on you, why? Because when a man is concerned with the finer details of the garments he decides to wear; each things has purpose and ties what he’s wearing together it set off an array of signals which say. That guy knows what he’s doing & the way you walk and the way you carry yourself follows soon after.

Having composure in your attitude and confidence in who you are as a person, has people believe what you want them to believe about you whether you’re wearing a t-shirt or a button-up the way the outfit is pieced together is the point not the individual pieces but the harmony and cohesiveness of the outfit from colour to detailing to cut and fit addressing all of these in an outfit pours into everything else you do.

Wear your clothes – don’t have them wear you

There is no shortcut to this style game. Essential Style is the first hurdle, Essential Style is what you gather when you have no money in the bank but you make things work anyway.

You’re able to pieces together what you want from simpler items , having your fit cost less that £200 but have you feeling more than a Thousand — but that’s only if you let it have you feel that way. Unless you create clothes and want to understand the difference between expensive fabric or the highest grade fabric and the cheaper more unrefined fabric (which takes years of testing) that is only when one could say this garment is not for me.

Whatever garments you do wear there should be an understanding of where it came from and what it represents which is why labels and brand names became so important, how you can tell the difference in a garment that’s machine made; made in a sweat shop; or hand sewn. Whichever of those represents you the best should inspire you to wear those.

The garments you buy are yours they represent you so in buying one you feel confident in the quality and what the label stands for so you should be your most confident within it, if you’re not confident one of the two is misaligned and you’re buying something frivolously

There is no shortcuts

people can try to buy all the the most expensive in season pieces and still find a way to look corny in a fit costing upwards of £5000. All because they never addressed essential style does what I’m wearing go together is what I’m wearing really what I want to have on my body? Is what I’m wearing representative of how I like to be seen?/ how I feel? Those questions left unanswered are all of the corny guys on Instagram wearing expensive fits but nothing looks good it’s all hype not high! No taste, will have you looking like a flop but hubris can carry you all the way.

Don’t let your clothes wear you

This in itself is a sin. As men we have only but so many clothing options so having your clothes eat you up like a Venus fly trap and getting the dreaded ‘it doesn’t suit you like that’ or ‘I like I but just not you in it’ outside of the gracious ‘you look good’ or ‘you’re really killing it’ is a carnal sin. Ever saw another person wear the exact same thing and it look better on them? I haven’t, I couldn’t even think it. I wear it, I feel my best. I wouldn’t wear something because it’s expensive or because someone asked me to. It’s dreadful, I’ve been dressing myself since I was seven other people telling me what I can and can’t wear makes me sick – so I learned exactly what needs be for it to never occur – I never want my girlfriend to think something looks better on another man that I myself wore. Heartbreak. But that doesn’t need to be you, you could have your values in a different place. For me and my level of commitment my clothes are for me – soon to be by me – and my style exists to please me.

My Resolution – Be better and greater quality because I deserve it

We go Anew,

I’m making it my business to fulfil myself because who else will. I write because I love it, but beyond writing I want to create and serve in all forms no matter the platform. I have been having this weird sensation to transform my living space from a thing I stay in to a place that’s conducive to productivity. It’s giving me the most amazing motivation and I didn’t even want it before November and it’s having me work everyday to make it happen.

At the end of the day as I create I want people to like my stuff but it’s not important for everyone to like it. Which is why I created the type of fashion page I have, it uses my artsy information along with my long time spent with people in fashion along with how I spent my life growing through fashion which has built someone who can talk about it the way I do. For some reason it comes so second to me, like breathing. When things are “easy” to me I shy away from it because it doesn’t invoke a mighty challenge, I’ve decided to fuck that whole mentality off and understand the challenge is success and even greater acceptance. Acceptance of people believing in me and who I truly am as an artist and a creative

I’ve set my sights on being the guy I’ve always wanted to be which is someone that can give people a hand grown with them and be entertaining, literally my definition of someone I like. You may notice I don’t talk about major brands often and when I do it’s a caveat into a deeper conversation, that’s because the brands are only the catalyst into what’s actually happening around the world, they react to us and that’s the information I want people to find. I myself don’t rely on major labels to breathe life into my style or writing and don’t expect it to be the same for others. Whether it’s business; advertising and marketing; corporations fighting. I want us all to understand it for what it is. And really. All of that is fun shit to me Pretty Little Thing and FashionNova is a Hilarious battle to me.

I’m not so conceited to think the culture needs me , this is simply what I enjoy doing and I’d do it for free. (I do it free) I do it for myself, if it helps or if it entertains I’m extremely happy for that. Dearly I am
