#SneakerSunday May – Alyx Nike FreeRUN with vibram Cramp Sole

We go again,

Matthew williams edges mays best sneaker with the free run images just days before the month ends. It was probably going to go to a free run anyway but this is a speedsock free run with rugged detachable sole that doubles as a basketball sneaker. I am yet to see how weatherproof this rugged second sole is so we can’t call it Techwear but it’s my favourite thing to look at right now.

Matthew Williams pulled something off I don’t think anyone has wrote about. He made Nike and another name brand collab all on his own, we should all know Nike puts out exclusivity contracts for anyone working with them meaning they can’t work with a competing brand but maybe Matthew has found a way to get Alyx to work with Nike.

I have a Vibram blog coming up but they have been getting busy with other industrial sneaker designers and Matthew is one of their main ambassadors with pretty much all his sneakers donning a Vibram second sole. This second sole is rugged chunky and looks almost weatherproof but I like to call these Second Soles City Clip-ons meaning they’re built for inner city walking only and don’t be so certain water won’t fall in the cracks of the innersole of the second sole. Kind of confusing but you get the picture.

The running sneaker or speed sock does not have the Frampton Ellis Barefoot Tech probably to make it easier to clip on to the sole but it is a high top that is slip on with an inner sole zip and shoelaces as a facade or to tighten. Some rugged toe grip and same reinforcement on the heel – and if I know anything about the way the free run is designed that sole is very flat and sticky probably enough for court use.

The detailing on this crep is impressive I love it, just looks sleek and calm to wear on its own with such a simple silhouette as the freeRUN one, it’s Details make it look very technical and methodical all the fabrics and plastics used seem to be for a purpose and and to the fine details and texture of the boot. Which is really reinforced when you add the Vibram sole which I really want a close look at the mould’s details To see what it really does. The mould really adds to the silhouette a different energy you almost look at the boot as an all in one till you take it off and see the speedsock on it’s own

At this point Vibram is really pulling it in the eyes of Techwear crep aficionados like myself thanks to Matthew it is looking nice to me, Nike made a good move not being too precious with the new sneaker silhouettes and allowing the artist to really manipulate them to create a whole different unique style.

This Crep really speaks to Matthews philosophy and to the industrial sneaker trend now style that sleek & simple go with rugged and detailed.

Editors Note

At this point I really just want to jump in and add to this industrial Sneaker style put my name in the hat and make it certified I’ve really got some things cooking but all in due time. I just love what my peers are doing and moving in a direction I like.

This is the way I like to see menswear done being a real style of its own

#SNEAKERSUNDAY Kick Of The Month April — Pyer-Moss Reebok DMX Daytona

We Go Again,

I am exceptionally happy to be writing about a sneaker that I actually like. It’s been months since I have wrote a sneaker of the month blog, this one is dedicated to April as I feel all the summer releases are going to come out soon.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been able to write about reebok in fact I don’t think I have it was really not till the Everyman sneaker of 2018 which was at the beginning of the year; not that long away but Kerby really came with some fire I love this yellow and all the other colourways he got engaged with especially the monochrome flavour

These basketball shoes are wavy and exactly what is needed by the foremost premier black designer of this decade. He took the lashes on his back for Virgil Kanye Samuel and everyone else didn’t have to.

None of these other guys can even dare to walk in his shoes in fear they will lose their sponsors.

The story behind Kerby is as followed he wanted to be a sneaker designer in New York till they cut the sneaker design course and he became a Womenswear intern till he came up with his own designs and came back from Istanbul such good leathers Rihanna wore the Jacket where it was mistaken for a white designer but no it was Kerby and that was the start of Pyer-Moss

After a rocky road he got to partner with Reebok and get creative control on his project this is what he came up with. Can you imagine. Although he’s been around in fashion for 15 years been in Forbes & Vogue he is officially getting true shine from me at least and and money for his workafter a career full of shady business

Them pirate black baller creps are all me and these alien boats are me with a hoodie on ready to boogie.

Some cold silhouettes and details following my Industrial sneaker mould with the shape. No dad shoe flexing just bold silhouettes and detailing

I’m ready to write more about Kerby

Yeezy and Big Baller Brand collaborate for the Culture — The Triple B Yeezy — Lavar And Kanye Wests creation

We go Again

I see this so clearly in my minds eye as the right thing to do. On the occasion where you can have two people who garner global attention such as Lavar Ball and Kanye West you expect something to come from them as a producer.

I cannot see one reason why they should not have a collaboration, the Yeezy Brands superior Technology and Big Baller Brands in with basketball culture and creating an alternative space where student athletes can practice their skills and get paid for it having a Triple B Yeezy basketball shoe on The Ball Brothers feet is an independent businessman’s dream. The only thing that can get in the way is the fact Yeezy is an Adidas Company and BBB can be considered a competitor, with Kanye’s non compete looking the way it does could make the sneaker non Existent.

Let’s make the speculation though, if we were to guess when Kanye West and Lavar Ball would collab I would say on LaMelo Ball’s draft day. Seems far enough out that Kanye would be in talks of signing a new contract LaMelo will have enough buzz round Melo as a star* in College will be high and he’s practically guaranteed he will be a top 15 pick off merit.

That’s when you strike while the iron is white hot, right now the frenzy for yeezy has died down the generation is grown up out of college and working they don’t have time to be hyping Yeezy. But! This can all be rectified with one great collaboration — grabbing a whole new generation who Respect Melo as one of their greats — this is what they were meant for to Turbo charge an already great Brand that runs on superior design and technology it will only Advance the cause if you get the future Jordan of the League. Not comparing Melo to Jordan in skill but in attention and respect for his skill he’s garnering he’s up there with the Greats of his generation.

If LaMelo were to by some miraculous reason play with his brothers the stars will truly align with Kanye and Lavar this time. Where technology will meet hype in the ultimate cross over of sportsmanship and genius.

In writing this I have gathered an even greater respect for the collaboration if it happens and want nothing more than for it to happen. For hip hop, for basketball, for black culture for independent business people everywhere who want to build their own thing. To show them collaborating across and not up can work just as well.
