Masculine Revolution — Discussion on the Menswear Renaissance

Bless up from your feet to your head-top,

We Go Again.

I started this discussion years ago with anyone who would listen and as a young artist without resources I did all I could to share it, being the inception of the blog. My guiding Principles and Philosophies dictate every fashion article Write since the beginning. Theres not One article on this website that doesn’t have distinction among my forecast.

I grew to enjoy writing as a hobby and ended up writing over 100 articles in 2019. Here in 2020 as we approach 2022 where the start of the Renaissance will be as clear as day I wanted to document all things that have been happening. from the art Industry of which I love with every fibre of my being,, the men who speak to men and I understand as propagators of the ethos of what masculinity is and represent it well we all have the same mind and way of understanding.

I decided to make a video on the Ethos and will soon make a video of artists representing Masculinity as they see fit in fashion particularly as it becomes the vehicle of what we see as the conversation maker. Each menswear designer is creating something for not the smallest substrata but the wider demographic.

As much I love avant-garde and andro fashion that is part of a substrata and cross dressing as well aas wearing womenswear is part of an even smaller respectable substrate that needs representation equally . Right beside the designers that are speaking  to masculinity as it is and grow with it.

What we are seeing in the fashion industry is a Menswear revolution where we are able to represent masculinity in art in ways it wasn’t able before. the foundations being working man, streetwear, industrial tech wear and other things laying the first firmament the foundation of masculinity being the principles of utility and simplicity of use, evolving the conversation and design language.

Want to Wear: Nike Joyride — Kick of the Month #PrimeNYT

Bless up from your feet to your head top

We go again

This is such a hyper sneaker and it deserves more love and I will be the one to give it to it.

EB0KddrWsAArSfo.jpgEBygQwcWwAAiX0D.jpg

The Nike joyrides is Nike new technology offering they have been teasing this for a little minute now and I’d love to own and see these in real life for us to behold.

EB0KdeaWkAAw-lL.jpg

It’s running tech is said to quell impact and form to whatever shape you need. In the case of podiatry there has been big talk of how trainers don’t do much for the ankles and misshape the foot, that being said these may be Nike’s answer to that.

EBygQvTWsAIc1oQ.jpg

An impact neutralising running shoe that doubles as a freeform cushion that doesn’t mould to the foot but has a give and take effect that helps with running. We have to wait and see.

EB0KddcWkAARAoL.jpg

That being said this trainer is lovely and colourful with the contrast colours you can do a lot with this Joyride tech. It seems the emphasis is all on the tred and the sole.

The OG upper is a simple quality running mesh, when you get deeper in the Joyride there’s so many styles of upper they are really putting so much behind it in terms of variable style compatibility and complimentary colour-ways what a wow.

I would really love to see these in real life.

Want to Wear: Nike X Sacai blazers and LDV Waffle #PrimeNYT

bless up from your feet to your head top.

We go Again,

ECBGDnOXsAA8CrM.jpgPNG image 4.png

I have adored these trainers for so long that nothing has changed. They might be my personal favourite for Sneaker of the year that’s the LDV Waffle.

What a trainer inspiring me to break the formal silhouette, genuinely in my design inspiration for soles have broke the normal silhouette but not confidently this LDV Waffle is the magnet that said yes I am this I love it, if not just for the brazen silhouette alone.

PNG image.pngPNG image 8.png

Then came the Blazer running with texture and layering cross colours and contrasting in such a magnificent way. It didn’t need to break the silhouette this time because the detailing was just so superb.

ECBGDnWX4AAPsf1.jpg PNG image 10.png

I knew little of Sacai before the collab now they have me thinking and wanting to know more. I hope this isn’t a one time thing and if it is I’m very grateful to have witnessed both pair.

Want to Wear: 032c Adidas — GSG 9, Boot #KickofTheMonth #PrimeNYT

Bless up from your feet to your head top

We go again,

I know little about 032c so that deserves a separate blog. As it’s known in my early 20’s boots and shoes were a big deal, crep Boots now they are priceless to me and these GSG 9’s are flawless.

PNG image 2.png  PNG image 4.png

032c done one a superb job with these in my humble opinion, it’s so crafty Techie and super desirable for the Lehman who doesn’t know design shoes or boots but wants one anyway.

PNG image 5.pngPNG image.png

This is another grey boot made to my taste the way the colour allows for you to really take in the detailing is a pleasure on the eyes.

I believe the midsole is adiprene I have no clue about the functionality of the upper and it’s waterproof self but nothing crep protect won’t fix. I was late on the drop but up on 032c now waiting for another one of their offerings with Adidas.

Joerg Koch very own utilitarian take of street style and shapes gives me good vibes and this industrial sneaker revolution is and will be a feast. We’re ready for this guy.

PNG image 6.png

Put together clean texture and obvious comfortable aesthetic.

Urahara Sanin — Undercover Japan – The most creative long lasting brand that is not a household name

We go again,

Intro

I have viewed undercover for so many years now watching from afar because my bank balance has not been able to touch it not could I justify it if I had said money. You could not tell me Jun Takahasi Nike React wasn’t top 2 Sneakers of 2018 I am pleased to see people really gel with the brand today as the link between London and japan wasn’t all that strong. We’ve had Yohji and Rei holding on by a tether but when it comes to past their discovery you really need to be an insider to know what undercover is.

A brief history of Undercover

I see the visions of undercover because some of the value it holds is just so closely related to Britain. I can see the influence of Rei Kawakubo and Vivienne Westwood ooze from Juns work; so much so it attracted Americans like Kanye and Pharrell into the fold of bridging the gap of the cultures because when it comes to Japanese denim it’s hard for me to find a second place the long lasting supple cotton is really where it’s at.

Jun started selling like hot cakes with, redone tees and retro fits at vendors from the like of milkboy and Billy’s in Harajuku.

The streetwear aesthetic is probably the reason why it’s taken so long for Undercover to be recognised, the Make shift aesthetic of the brand identity. The real British make do and mend along with the strong Japanese construction and proven nature of the clothes.

The clincher was Jun working alongside Nigo as a team they opened their now famous store, (which I hope to visit some day) NOWHERE in Tokyo being backed like a guy like Hiroshi Fujiwara it’s astonishing how streetwear bought round titans like these together in the golden age of Japanese streetwear while Europe was going through its anti fashion stage. His Street Punk style in Japan is so famous it would influence clothing design in anime and

Undercover cult

The fan base of undercover is strong and always there i get the Rick Owens Cult fanbase vibes all the way. Those who know about Undercover will y’all about it emphatically like a fanatic. The Street Punk style is something I can see a mile off; much like Rick Owens he is an unnamed staple in fashion, outside of the fashion world; — if you know fashion you know who he is if you don’t you won’t. But you will probably dress something like he’s made or love his style if you love streetwear.

Your favourite designer may suckle from the teet of his groundwork from 30 years ago

Final thoughts

I would say undercover is the embodiment of what the industry standard for a fashion house is continuing on with the theme of the ethos/ founding principles; exploring but not venturing off into domain that is outside of its character; collaborating on the brand identity and not for the money —this could be said to be to Juns Detriment but with me having such a long lasting fashion house who stands on the integrity of the reason it started 30 years ago and still getting collaborations with Nike, showing in Paris & working with Pitti Uomo is a testament that as a designer and storyteller you can thrive.

#SneakerSunday May – Alyx Nike FreeRUN with vibram Cramp Sole

We go again,

Matthew williams edges mays best sneaker with the free run images just days before the month ends. It was probably going to go to a free run anyway but this is a speedsock free run with rugged detachable sole that doubles as a basketball sneaker. I am yet to see how weatherproof this rugged second sole is so we can’t call it Techwear but it’s my favourite thing to look at right now.

Matthew Williams pulled something off I don’t think anyone has wrote about. He made Nike and another name brand collab all on his own, we should all know Nike puts out exclusivity contracts for anyone working with them meaning they can’t work with a competing brand but maybe Matthew has found a way to get Alyx to work with Nike.

I have a Vibram blog coming up but they have been getting busy with other industrial sneaker designers and Matthew is one of their main ambassadors with pretty much all his sneakers donning a Vibram second sole. This second sole is rugged chunky and looks almost weatherproof but I like to call these Second Soles City Clip-ons meaning they’re built for inner city walking only and don’t be so certain water won’t fall in the cracks of the innersole of the second sole. Kind of confusing but you get the picture.

The running sneaker or speed sock does not have the Frampton Ellis Barefoot Tech probably to make it easier to clip on to the sole but it is a high top that is slip on with an inner sole zip and shoelaces as a facade or to tighten. Some rugged toe grip and same reinforcement on the heel – and if I know anything about the way the free run is designed that sole is very flat and sticky probably enough for court use.

The detailing on this crep is impressive I love it, just looks sleek and calm to wear on its own with such a simple silhouette as the freeRUN one, it’s Details make it look very technical and methodical all the fabrics and plastics used seem to be for a purpose and and to the fine details and texture of the boot. Which is really reinforced when you add the Vibram sole which I really want a close look at the mould’s details To see what it really does. The mould really adds to the silhouette a different energy you almost look at the boot as an all in one till you take it off and see the speedsock on it’s own

At this point Vibram is really pulling it in the eyes of Techwear crep aficionados like myself thanks to Matthew it is looking nice to me, Nike made a good move not being too precious with the new sneaker silhouettes and allowing the artist to really manipulate them to create a whole different unique style.

This Crep really speaks to Matthews philosophy and to the industrial sneaker trend now style that sleek & simple go with rugged and detailed.

Editors Note

At this point I really just want to jump in and add to this industrial Sneaker style put my name in the hat and make it certified I’ve really got some things cooking but all in due time. I just love what my peers are doing and moving in a direction I like.

This is the way I like to see menswear done being a real style of its own
