OYOS — Blue Collar Work Ethic, White Collar Education — How I collect the Right Information and you can do it too

We go again,

I wouldn’t know how to explain it any differently. But I will try and expound on what I mean, the lengths I’ve gone to to get an education have been extreme almost dying and coming back many times because that’s just how I was raised.

Since I was a teenager I knew I would have to work incredibly differently than my peers, I didn’t know how differently. In honesty a big part of me educating myself came from dark places. 90% of my formative years educating myself was from a sick bed learning the thing that was going to get me the grade while doing the thing that would get me the grade because that’s just how I was raised

Life has seen me differently in the past couple of years I’ve had to put in more work finding the right information than actually learning it. Learning is no longer an issue for a brain used to consuming information it’s the quality of information that is important. Right now the internet is like a rainforest full of all manner of things most poisonous and some delectable. Those are the risks I take for an education because that’s just how I was raised.

I enjoy learning I was told from young it will get me places, but no one ever tells you the risks in finding out the right information, sometimes that can still burn like arsenic… information really changes situation, it’s changed my lifewhat we think we know isn’t always the truth and sometimes it feels like people would it be that way – how incredibly sad.

What do I do to avoid putting strychnine in my coffee instead of sugar? but if it wasn’t for the way I was raised I would not be the type to have handled it as well as I do.

I say this because the amount of information that is shared that just happens to be false, falsified or misleading or misguided is exorbitant. I’ve dedicated a bulk of my life to academia being in bed library hospital or in the classroom and whist I have been out of the educational sphere I find most of the information is guided under lock and key in each industries individual jargon. The jungle of information continue to mask the right information and strychnine is masked as fruit trees, what we think we know isn’t always the truth and sometimes it feels like people would rather it be that way – how incredibly sad.

What do I do to avoid putting strychnine in my coffee instead of sugar? I work on my investigative skills and I do as the scientist and mathematicians do. I ask an array of questions on a subject and I answer them with research to prove or disprove my hypothesis, it’s as simple or as complex as that. I remove my bias and go for the right information because it’s needed and not because I want to feel right but because there are too many people out here spreading the wrong information

It is not easy to find the right information without a great deal of information so you follow someone’s teachings and stick to their own circle of influence reinforcing their beliefs within their space, which works when you want a lifestyle tribe but doesn’t scale worldwide, it’s all blessed if you want to think what you think, possibly. If it’s not hurting people, maybe. But I like knowing what I know can be proven.

OYOS On Top of Your Game

You said you were gonna do something and didn’t. Wow, there are no words for the thing I feel when I don’t execute. It has to be the most uncomfortable feeling there is out there. To say to yourself completely and wholly believe that I was going to do it. A man must take the utmost responsibility for who he is and who he portrays himself to be. You’ve created this image, this veneer, it is your responsibility for anything that comes your way.

Someone so controlled and excellent with words must be wary as their ability to string what must seem like the perfect sentence can come off as honesty, slight or anger when their intentions aren’t aligned with what they say. I cannot just be so cavalier about what I say – I can/can’t/will/won’t do -, this is your moment this is your time to make a mark, your words really do become opportunities. you’ve said you were good at this thing for so long have you taken the time to get great.

There have been really crucial moments where I have given my CV out and my qualifications and experience were perfect but my recent portfolio didn’t match, not because my skills are average but because my what I had to show for myself was. Whether or not I’m excellent, the business doesn’t care my work got deleted, whether my Equipment wasn’t running well at the time, or all the digital files for said work got wiped. It is still my responsibility to make sure that happens less and less. I take full ownership of my fuck ups because they’re mine and I do my best to find an equal or better solution to my problem.

With age comes experience – or people assume so. Theres going to be a time you won’t get that junior position phone call anymore. Your graduation date tips off your minimum age so people will be looking for more experienced work from you. Can you show it? Not saying your work must be worlds apart in the effort put in – we learn to work smarter not harder in an office space. You’re given a key role, does the story in your portfolio reflect that? I’ve noticed this isn’t just artistically, in creative studios. (Business smarts dictate you record how you made a business better, how many sales you made and your value to that company in the time you were there. A case study.) Is the freelance work your doing telling a story of you being able to give more & earn more? EVEN IF ITS FOR FREE! Are the case studies you put together going to pay off? Are your presentation boards in order? The Pitch decks, selling? Real questions you got to ask yourself. You better hope they are, for you not for them. As long as those are in order you will be able to accomplish all things, because when you have all of these things on record you gain something with leverage. Have you been in the position where the work you are doing for a job role is more than was required of you and wasn’t on your responsibilities list? See, that’s what I’m talking about. Now you’re thinking like a pro, that’s leverage.

With age comes experience or it’s assumed to be. during this 23-27 period before you get your more senior /mid-level serious  job offers coming in only so much is asked of you, it is only for us to find out what that is. When you said you were gonna accomplish something for this particular position or path you chose remember you must work for your betterment as well as the betterment of the company. You don’t need to go it alone or Run your own enterprise to know you must be accountable for your own words, your own actions, when you said you were going to do something go do it.

There have been times where I took time off in my sales jobs. (My past doesn’t lie everything is recorded) my performance told me the truth at that moment, I was unable to repeat the results of the past. I didn’t know I wasn’t my past accolades, what I done in University was for them, what I done for my previous job was for them, what I do today is for me, its for this moment.

What I really mean by that is never lose the enthusiasm and never – by any means – rest on your laurels. When I learned this is when I started learning about personal production and positioning. To be able to create my own value just as I did like a spry kid selling chocolates out my backpack and Iced juice during summer terms, of school. I am to be the guy that always produced the goods in the moment I need them most. The best way to do that is to always be ready so you never have to get ready. Knowing my timings, assessing my skill level making sure my CV is up-to-date (as in I can still do all the things I said I could do) are all part of this game called Professional Careers

always remember,

OYOS Acres Of Diamonds

You live in your acres of diamonds

The only reason I’ve ever done as good as I have is by this one thought and philosophical context. However it goes never search too far outside yourself as what you desire might be in a place most familiar. The type of thoughts that run through my mind when people say; ‘maybe I should move out my city.’ Or ‘you could make more money doing this’.

It has been a tale that has been told time and time again that I always have the skills I need at my disposal. I don’t know if I was born talented or super smart but I do know where my strengths lie. My words, my creativity, my vision. Something that uses anyone of those is where my acres of diamonds lay, I have created opportunity after opportunity for myself using/displaying less than 20% of my capabilities. I often think to myself what if I dedicated myself to one specific area how would I feel, where would I bee if I did that for years on end, however I still have it in my mind all my gifts are mine to use and to continue using because they are the gifts granted to me. It really humbles me when I find some people don’t have any or don’t know what their purpose is. It give me more drive to move towards my purpose and create more opportunities for myself so I can soon grant opportunities for others. That is my true work thing ‘work so hard at my jobs so I can create more jobs’ and anything That will allow me to do that I will.

Back to what you have even though It’s minimal you can always do something. I remember when I was dead broke literally no money and my computer broke, all I had was a Mickey Mouse pencil and a couple felt tip pens. This led me to start my fashion Illustration career which I still practice and commission to this day, even though I’m a photoshop guy I decided to use spare paper around the house to hone my manual skills. I remember being broke in university and the only thing I had in my cabinet was corned beef, I whipped that up into gourmet level meal … yeah I said it … GORMET! Remember having no new Ideas and being in-between jobs, all I had was a lawn mower I decided to go round to all my neighbour and ask if they need their grass cut, this particular hustle earned me thousands.

At my ropes end I find I am at my most ingenuous creating some sort of creative endeavour to pursue. Not just in the creative arts but in sales/ online advertising and project development. When you’re at your most scrappy and enthusiastic negativity finds itself out of your way allowing you to open another opportunity. I know for me and my awkward life I have been down roads that I didn’t think would lead me to money or any type of success. As a creative I do what I’m passionate about and the little I need finds its way to me, the will be a time when I find myself in surplus! I feel it in my spirit and theres no way I won’t allow it to happen so I move towards it everyday – Because I need to – I have to – theres no way I cannot.

Creating opportunities is what I do best, I will always want to because it feels right find your own acres of diamonds where you sit right now its definitely there it just needs a little digging and refining. Opportunity waits for no man however when you’re feeling noble and honest within yourself True opportunity was always yours to begin with. It was just waiting for you to grab it.
