Want to Wear: Who needs a Plug? I need a plug #PrimeNYT

Bless up from your feet to your head top

We go again

I love creps since I was a little one and got my first aid forces, I remember walk-in on the road with my bros in our fresh huaraches and those cherished moments doing the dash in a new pair of creps before buying them, conversely doing the duck walk in order to not crease the patent leather.

In my earlier years I was known even as too hard to buy for because I know what I like and I like it pricy, which got me the name ‘designer designer’. One I wear with honour now because I honour the artists that make what I wear and the masterful craftsmanship at play.

However in this day and age I had no idea I would be writing blogs, and articles for sneakers and quite frankly I don’t want to buy every pair. But I would love to be able to review everything properly and for that I need to wear them.

In comes my need to borrow pairs for a day or lease them to get a feel of them to really inspect the sole tooling and stitch work Among other things you can’t see in images.

If there is anyone out there stylist or buyer or dead-stockist, retailer, seller or archivist or someone with a job title I don’t know yet, if you find my articles enjoyable please lend me pairs of new drops I find pleasing so I can write better articles. You will 100% be named if you want and your store or website promoted because the love needs to be shared

These are going to be a new style of blog though, want to wear creps that are good enough to put on feet stay tuned.

CrepTECH: My Sneaker ideal — what I care about in creps

We Go Again,

I haven’t written a trainer blog in quite some times simply because there have been no trainers that have excited me in the past couple of months.

I generally had to speak on the past trainers my Spring Of The Rookie cast worked on and curated for Nike they all had appeal to the designer and played to the creative process of respective designer.

I don’t count trainers that aren’t made in this decade or month meaning the mould and silhouettes were made long before those designers came about.

There are trainers I like that look good but maybe not wear good who knows… so I won’t vouch for said brands yet.

However here’s a list of Trainers who’s silhouette I would really like a pair of.

YEEZY 350

I think the 350 boost mould is becoming a classic sneaker, in the democratising of the 350 what’s happened is the transfer from Grail of certain colour ways and idolisation to an understanding and consolidating of the 350 I’ve had such a great time living through that. The most enjoyable part of this who life cycle of the 350 has given me a new perspective on what a great trainer is and can be, as Kanye West flagship product its paving the way for everything he is able to do as an industrial designer.

Nike Element React 87

These are a complex looking slip on sneaker who came back from the underground and one of the only sneakers I’ve liked that came back before the Air Max Era

Adidas Yung-1

The Yung-1s are the absolute same as the Reacts but because of the Industrial influences they make the Yung-1’s more handsome and lively in this era

DR. Martens 1460

Since I was 16 and had my first leather Jacket I’ve loved the essential feel of these boots. They stay just as classic as oxfords and I’m more attached to these as a Punk Rocker than any other shoe. Continually Aspirational

EDITORS NOTE

I love all the footwear above they are all part of a wish list of footwear of mine. I’m not a particular colour way fellow, that seems arbitrary; when it comes to silhouette and Base design is where I hang my hat and these guys have it down pat

A Thought On: Storytelling in the CLOT X Terracotta Jordan 13s REVIEW – The Power of Stories and the quality of creativity

We go again,

Just saw these, thought they were amazing and deeped the concept and just loved it design application aside this is a real good concept with storytelling in pictures giving off a quality feel. If the oldest recorded history had sneakers they’d wear Jordan’s 😂😂, I’m literally laughing.

But that’s joy, me when I was 8-15 the history buff that I was this would have added to my story of where I am now. – In design, telling great stories; creating exceptional product – my 12 year old self would have loved the socks off of this Jordan, would have inevitably be the Jordan that would be my first.

Why do I say all of this because I’m my mo sneakers no stories I spoke greatly about the lack of stories and how that impacts the sale of sneakers, telling great stories (like songs) induces great ideas in young minds worthy of exploring. Once more the quality of the product almost comes secondary to the story told and association it holds. I’m in love with ancient history and things told before records were kept, have been enamoured with it for decades. Me as a kid who loved the Mummy films and knew much about the terracotta warriors would be immediately taken at 8 and now in my 20’s. Why? Because the weight of the association it holds is heavy and if in any form I can be part of that story I will.

This is a call to great designers and storytellers to work hand in hand on briefs to create product that speak to the imagination of the youth and adults. I right now am digging deep to find an outfit worthy of rocking the Terracotta 13’s all because of the story and nary because of the design.
